Numero Uno for the Second Time

June marked the end of Tiny’s first year - and that means cake.  Her first taste of cake, just like her big sissy had at her first birthday party.  Here's a flashback to Bubba's first birthday:

Left is the monkey cake I made for Bubba to chow down on.  The monkey design I stole from some baby fabric I had.  Since I was pretty sure no one would want to eat what was left of this cake after she had slobbered all over and generally  destroyed it, I made a second cake - a simple double layer (on the right), for the guests to eat.

Bubba was the only little kiddo at her party - and sat on her high chair like a throne with a circle of adults staring at her, watching to see her first reaction to cake.  We waited, and waited, and she just sat there and stared at it.  Finally her dad had to step in and show her that the thing was edible...

But once she got a taste for it - she was able to get over her dislike of the new texture of frosting, and finally dug in!

So when Tiny's birthday came along, Bubba requested a monkey cake for her too. I asked her if it had to be shaped like a monkey, or if just putting a monkey on the cake was ok, and she said yes that was ok.  But apparently when she saw that it wasn’t shaped like a monkey, she threw a fit.  She wanted the same monkey shaped cake for Tiny that she had three years ago.  Haha, oh well.  She got over it eventually.  Sorry Bubba, if Aunt Teetee is going to spend hours decorating a cake, it iddn’t gonna be a repeat - that would take most of the fun out of it for me.  Besides, I already had an idea of cake baby blocks that I had been wanting to try for years.

Note: it does have the same monkey drawn on top to match Bubba's cake.  That much I did for her.

Tiny's party was different from Bubba's - this time the adults were mostly talking to each other, and the kidlets in attendance were hovering around the baby with the cake, just hoping for a taste...

But like her sister, Tiny needed help knowing what to do with the fluffy thing in front of her, and this time cousin Mikey and mamma stepped up to help.

Once tiny got the hang of it, all the kidlets volunteered to help polish it off.  And even some adults got in on the cake action, since Tiny was in the toddler phase of sharing with everyone!

So, The party was a "sweet" success!  Many happy returns of the day, little one!

Cake managed!
Too cute!
