How about a Valentine's
Poem or two?
My all-time favorite speaker, George Durrant, introduced me to the following poem -
he quotes it in his book, You and Your Spouse in Your Happy House.
When love and I are met,
I used to say,
I shall be certain from the first hello--
No wondering about it, no delay.
I thought a steady flame in us would glow
As if we lit a candle each in each.
But in my ignorance I did not know nor understand
That love's coming may be slow.
I didn't know that love, if it be true,
May need a thousand greetings
While it sends its roots so deep
That neither of the two hearts can be freed.
I didn't know that friends as
Dear as you and I were in the past
Could take the gates of paradise at last.
~ Elizabeth Eamons
I don't yet know how my own love story will play out, but I do have to say in my inexperience - I may not believe in love at first sight, but I do still find the idea of interest/attraction/chemistry at first sight very romantic. Sigh. Only time will tell ...
But for those who prefer the less optimistic, "Single Awareness Day" - here's a gem quoted by President James E. Faust in October 1999 General Conference. I don't know where it originally came from, but it has given me many a chuckle. Far too true!
“When fretted by this single life,
which seems to be my lot,
I think of all the many men
whose wife I’m glad I’m not.”
On that note, happy day of love to you!
With my wish that you are lucky enough today to have someone to snuggle with.
P.S. Felines totally count.
