Ides of March

Everybody likes a present, right?

Hmm,  not so much sometimes.  Catzilla LOVES to go lizard hunting.  I'm not a huge fan of this habit of hers - I feel bad for the poor little lizards.  But it is natural for her to be a predator, and nature is violent, and if the lizard is dumb enough to get caught, then I need to just suck it up...

...but once she nabs a live lizard toy...

...she makes a beeline straight for the house...

...to bestow it as a present to me...

...after torturing, maiming, and otherwise mangling the creature...

....all in the pursuit of fun...

...but why inside the house?!?  Apparently lizards are much more fun to play with when they spin and slide around on a smooth wood floor, over any outside surface...

I've picked up far too many lizards (dead or alive, or mostly dead) off the dining room floor.  So today when she grabbed her next victim, I tried to prevent it from happening again - I beat her to the house & shut the back door in her face...

Success (for me)!

If you look closely, you can see the lizard legs hanging from her mouth.

She had no idea what to do.

Her happy hunting provided prey, but she was banned from the best playground.

And she doesn't like being separated from me, or locked out of anywhere.

So she looked..

Put the victim down and thought...

Picked the lizard up, and looked some more...

...and was so distraught by the idea of being locked out of the house, that when she put the lizard down again - I opened the door and she and came running in wanting love and attention.  The forgotten lizard escaped away unnoticed, living to die another day.

Apparently she loves me more. :)

One less lizard to return to the garden!

Glaring at me later...

And yelling, ok, yawning :)

And because people often comment on how beautiful Catzilla is - a reminder that beauty is as beauty does.

Here is a picture of my gorgeous Destructo, who would never even think about harming poor defenseless lizards.

Or, at least she hasn't yet... but many a spider or other insect has met their doom from her paws & jaws.

Bug hunting is definitely a favorite pastime.

Long live my little hunters. ;o)
