A Little Piece of Heaven

Five years ago today I said goodbye to my best friend and constant companion of nearly 20 years.

Her death left me with indescribable pain, but her life also brought me boundless joy.  And I believe that she (like many animals) was sent here on specific assignment from the realms above to teach me a bit about true love.  She picked me to be her person in spite of my fear, and lived to love me with all my imperfections.  My own angel on earth.

Do I believe our animals will be with us in Heaven?  YES, I do.

The tenth President of the Church, Joseph Fielding Smith, as an apostle, stated: “So we see that the Lord intends to save, not only the earth and the heavens, not only man who dwells upon the earth, but all things which he has created. The animals, the fishes of the sea, the fowls of the air, as well as man, are to be recreated, or renewed, through the resurrection, for they too are living souls.”
(Conference Report, October 1928, p. 100.)

I think animals can teach us a great deal about the Savior's love.  Perhaps better than most people.  I've written before that I think I've always been a bit homesick for heaven, but actually, as of five years ago today - a big piece of my heart is already there.      ^..^
