Alaska - Day 2

This is the view I woke up to the first morning on the ship (I say morning, but really I had no idea what time it was - my phone said 5pm, and I totally believed it until the loudspeaker announced something happening at 9am and I assumed that meant I hadn't really slept the day away):

That's right, fog.  Fog like pea soup.  I began to wonder if we would see any other sunsets in Alaska.  But no worries, we were just in the open water, on our way to a glacier, so not much to see anyway.  And it gave us time to find fun on the boat - Bubba and Papa decided to hit the hot tub!

And wonder of wonders, guess what cleared up right before we got to the glacier!

Bye bye fog!
Hello glacier!
A "close up"
The captain took us as close to the glacier as he thought safe, which was still a couple miles away - the water was full of glacial ice chunks.

Ice chunks in the shade
Ice chunks in the sun

We weren't allowed to throw anything off the balcony, but someone thought it would be fun to toss an ice cube into the sea of ice, wonder who that could be?...

I loved the hills reflecting in the ice field:

Sitting back, feet up on the rails, breathtaking views, my kinda vacation!

And as soon as we left the glacier - back we went into the fog!

Apparently birds like to congregate on icebergs

And now, a story.  On the first family cruise we went on, out of LA to Mexico, my friend and I shared a room and were freaked out when we came back to our room to find towels wrapped up and hanging from the ceiling looking (to us) like a dead chicken.  Ok, so supposedly it was a monkey.  Whatever, but if you don't know, one of the things they do on cruises is crazy towel origami.  I guess the room attendants have to have some fun...  They even had a display case of them on this boat.  I purposefully left the "do not disturb" sign out so I wouldn't get one the first night.  I don't like being waited upon, or creepy towel animals.

But I was bummed when I saw the animal Bubba got in her room - it's a moose!  So cute!!  Alaska style.  :)

So the next night, I let them do my room, hoping to get a moose  - more on that later...
