Alaska - Day 6, Ketchikan

We were going to dock in Ketchikan in the afternoon, so on the boat that morning guess who decided to put on a show for us?  Can you spot it?

Yep, a humpback whale came by and did spins and spins alongside our boat.  Apparently we got a whale watching bonus on our cruise. :)

Here it is with a boat in the frame for size comparison, thanks for the show, whale!

And then we arrived at Ketchikan - quite picturesque!

We literally walked of the boat and into the town - crazy how close the boat was!

And finally we got a family pic, since the boys didn't like the original official cruise one they took while we walked onto the boat!

Our adventure for the day?  Go-kart, ATV-ing.  Although we did get an extra adventure - offroading in a huge bus that was mostly empty (us four, and one other couple).  We went over a cement bridge that was barely as wide as the bus - crazy maneuvering by the bus driver, good job!,

Getting ready for the real life Mario-kart!

Real life bobble-head

Bobble head family!

Little one strapped in...

Mom & dad strapped in!

And we were off (after they fixed the broken seatbelt on the kart I was in)!  We asked Bubba who she wanted to ride with first, and she chose me.  If this is Mario-kart, just call me Yoshi!  Or you can call me slow like bro-in-law did.  Dude - I was trying to stay out of the dust cloud from the guide in front, and avoid the potholes to give Bubba a smooth ride.  She could hardly hold her head up with that helmet as it was!  Then we stopped for a break & driver switching time.

Take note of how clean she is after riding with me!

Bubba at the cliff by herself

No worries - she came back!

Then we got back on the road - me with a crazy mad race car driver wanna be, who drove into the potholes for fun, and never left the dust cloud of the car in front of him (seriously, I had no idea that the karts could take that kind of abuse!).  And Bubba with her mamma.

Lookee who isn't so clean anymore!

Snack time!

Big waterfall
Cute Bubba
Time to ride back - Bubba got to ride with the crazy guy!  And got so jostled that they had to stop and find something to put under her seat belt that rubbed too much.  Scared me and my sister, seemed like an eternity waiting for them to pull up, and wondering what went wrong!  At the end of it all Bubba was asked who her favorite driver was - Mamma!  But daddy was the most fun, and Teetee kept her the cleanest!

When we got back, they had compressed air to blow off all the dirt from our fun ride!

Totally worked - right?!?

After a second cleaning with wet wipes - we were ready to head back.  Bye bye ATV adventure!

Only slightly tired!

Something I though was pretty cool about Ketchikan - they have street signs for walkways!

So cool!

Then we went on an adventure to find lunch!  Got a recommendation from the locals.

The tunnel that you can go over, around, or through.

Long list of milkshake flavors!

And then, we finally got a few minutes to walk around a cute town, and do a little bit of shopping.  If you look closely down the street you might see a movie theater.  That is where Papa and my brother spent the afternoon.  When in Alaska? - go see a movie, Man of Steel, of course!

And fun goofing off with the statue - that's our ship behind, so close!

Hey, I said I'd try to find a guy in Alaska...

Kinds looks like he's proposing here - note kiddos pose, love it!

And more beautiful views as we left the port:

Another breathtaking sunset!  Every night we thought they couldn't get better...

Back in the room, Bubba's towel animal for the day - ribbit, ribbit, or maybe this one croaks?...
